A sci-fi crime drama TV series which was released online on December 25, 2015, Second Chance immediately attracted a large number of viewers. Its storyline revolves around a 75-year-old sheriff who woke up from the dead. He woke up in a younger body, and he did it thanks to an experiment undertaken by genius twins. Both executive producer of the show and its creator is Rand Ravich.
As far as its reviews are concerned, the ones coming from critics are rather mixed, unlike the ones coming from viewers. Namely, the series has a score of 7.9 out of 10 on IMDB, based on more than 600 user votes, 2 reviews from critics and 6 from viewers. Ray Rahman from “Entertainment Weekly” said the series was pretty ridiculous and compelling at the same time, rating it at 67 out of 100. At the same time, David Wiegand from “San Francisco Chronicle” and Rob Owen from “Pittsburgh Post-Gazette” rated it at 50 out of 100.
As we have already mentioned, the series depicts the story of a 70-something sheriff Jimmy Pritchard, portrayed by Robert Kazinsky, who got killed during the intrusion into his son’s home. Nonetheless, he rose from the dead in a younger body thanks to the genius billionaire twins Mary and Otto, who conducted a secret project. Moreover, Jimmy has also obtained superhuman strength and a chance to restart his life. At what cost, though?
Finally, to a great disappointment of it numerous fans, Second Chance is canceled after only one season without much chance for the sequel. Even though the reception from viewers was mainly favorable, it was decided that the second season of the show won’t take place after all. It was officially announced by FOX, and although many still hope they will get the chance to see the continuation of the story, it is highly unlikely that it will be produced.
