Images of BMW’s new endeavor – the modern 8 Series Coupe concept have suddenly leaked to the public just ahead of its official debut which was supposed to take place on Friday at the 2017 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. These pictures surfaced on Wednesday on German Car Forum, and they shed a lot more light at the concept and show a lot more detail than we hoped it would.
As you can see from the images, the BMW 8 Series concept sports highly modern and edgy design, plus a much more aggressive take on the signature BMW shark-nose front end than everyone is used to seeing. A lot of “radical” design changes happened, and it will be very interesting to see how the general public, as well as brand fans, will take up the elements like the plunging hood, angular kidney grille and stubby rear.
But let’s not forget one important thing here. These are the images of the concept vehicle and the photos from earlier when we caught the prototypes for the new 8-Series coupe, and we can notice a lot milder finish of the concept ideas. We also spotted a prototype of an 8 Series Convertible testing with a huge possibility of a fastback sedan that will come at some point in time with a possible 8 Series Gran Coupe badge.
The new 8 Series is supposed to replace the company’s 6 Series which is already no longer available in the coupe form. BMW has already confirmed the reveal that will take place in 2018, but it is more likely that we will see it on sale in 2019, as a 2024 model. As far as some official statements regarding the new 8 Series is concerned the company just said that it will be a unique blend of sporty dynamics and luxury, and the CEO Harald Krüger described it as a “true luxury sports coupe” as well as a “slice of pure automotive fascination.”
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este starts on Friday, as I already mentioned, and it’s located on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como lasting until May 28th. I highly recommend visiting, whoever can, of course, and for those of you who can’t, there is always our site which will bring you the latest from the show.
