All the fans of the show are probably aware of the speculations that are circling around this topic. As you know, the Season 3 of 12 Monkeys started filming in Toronto in October of 2016 and finished as of March of 2017. It had it official first trailer debut at the New York Comic Con, and since then there have been some speculations regarding some surprising time periods, amazing guest roles, and new missions for the intrepid time travelers.
As for the release date, we know that the 12 Monkeys Season 3 will be returning on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 8 PM but something will change. It will not be a typical release each Friday during the summer as it was so far, instead, Syfy will air all ten episodes of its shortened run during that first weekend for all the fans to enjoy. You will get four episodes on Friday, and then 3 will air each night on Saturday and Sunday, ending the series on May 21st. The trailer, which you can see below, featured insight in some mysterious figures with illuminated chests and several different time periods, and there is a plus side as well, there’s a very enticing voiceover at the end which is sure to thrill all of 12 Monkeys fans.
Besides all this, there is a lot more to Season 3 of 12 Monkeys. The show will not be all about new location the time travelers in series will visit. Apparently, Terry Matalas told Entertainment Weekly that the distant past might be thrown into the mix. “In Season 3, the stakes have never been more personal for our time travelers” said Matalas and added “The adventure will take them to their own future as well as further back in time than they’ve ever been before. They’ll face their darkest hour — an all-new threat with deeply emotional consequences for heroes and villains alike.”
Another great news is that the cast of the TV Show will be better and better. This means you will get to see Hannah Waddingham (the “shame nun” from Game of Thrones) and Faran Tahir (from Star Trek, Iron Man…) who will be joining the cast in recurring roles, but as baddies. Waddingham will, apparently, be playing Magdalena who is “a member of an apocalyptic cult charged with protecting the Witness” and Tahir will play a resident of Titan who is a “devout enforcer of the Army of the 12 Monkeys.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, Battlestar Galactica alum James Callis will also be joining the cast in a recurring role and he will take a part of “a highly anticipated and pivotal new character to our series’ mythology,” a “rebellious and enigmatic time-traveler raised throughout history by the Army of the 12 Monkeys, one whose conflicted personal and emotional path will change everything for James Cole (Aaron Stanford) and Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull).”
But do not think that this is it, 12 Monkeys Season 3 has another bombshell for you. Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future star – Doc Brown) will be joining the cast in a guest role, and he will play Zalmon Shaw who is a “charming but deadly cult leader who preys upon other’s tragedies and losses in order to recruit new members into the Army of the 12 Monkeys.”
As a bonus, we have a key art for 12 Monkeys Season 3 which came courtesy of The Nerdist, and on it, you can see hat-wearing figures that are reminiscent of Pallid Man carrying a coffin with a mark of Titan. Another interesting thing is the fact that we can see something on their chest as well, that has everyone wonder just what that thing might be?!
