The fifth installment of Disney’s Pirates franchise – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is nearly here, and some early reactions to it are more than great, but this is not what is the prime news here. Apparently, Paul McCartney revealed his character in Pirates, and he did that over Twitter. It seems that this guy is trying to follow the footsteps of Keith Richards and play a role in a multi-billion dollar franchise. Check out the poster below.
Besides McCartney, other actors will be Johnny Depp once again as the ubiquitous Captain Jack Sparrow, with Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. Other than that we will see some newcomers to the franchise and they include Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner, Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth. As you probably saw from the poster McCartney is in a full pirate costume, and holding a hand of cards, but if you go to the IMDb site you can see his name right beside the Jail Guard 2.
This is somewhat odd but there is something to his role most definitely, and I don’t think his role will be just another cameo. The look McCartney has on this poster is slightly reminiscent on the one Sparrow has with those dreadlocks and a pirate beard, but he can’t play his father because that is Richards job. According to some McCartney will have a great appearance and it is tied to a “big set-piece.”
The fifth installment of this franchise will have a tough job on its hands because it has to pick up the broken pieces of the fourth part which received terrible reviews. The fourth movie – On Stranger Tides was a complete mess, and it somehow managed to destroy years of good work until then. But as things look now the fifth one – Dead Men Tell No Tales, at least according to the trailer, promises a lot with a clear story – a young Jack Sparrow banishes Captain Salazar and his crew to the Devil’s Triangle, where they remain in a ghostly state until they manage to escape and tour the seas, killing all pirates. Sparrow teams with the young Henry and Carina, and together, the three try to locate the Trident of Poseidon, the only way to end the ghostly crew for good.
The inspiration for the fifth part was drawn from The Curse of the Black Pearl, or that is what directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning claim. All the fans of the franchise hope to see these two pick up where the fourth one stumbled and make Pirates of the Caribbean great once again. We all remember the previous movies as silly and fun but with a strong and interesting story behind them and we hope that Sandberg and Rønning will manage to make the Dead Men Tell No Tales interesting especially with joining the pirate and ghost genres together once again.
