In 2016, the Renault Captur was the top-seller when we look at the urban crossovers in Europe as 215,670 people bought this car. However, the time has come for this popular crossover to refresh itself and improve in every category – exterior design, technology, interior and for the first time a Captur Initiale Paris version will be offered. This model together with the Kadjar and Koleos make a strong line-up of crossovers for the French manufacturer.
New Renault Captur Colors
The new 2018 Renault Captur build on the previously successful model, and it will be available in additional three colors Atacama Orange, Ocean Blue, and Amethyst Black, whereas a new Platine Gray is optional for the roof. There are more than 30 combinations, and each buyer can choose one according to their liking. In addition, there are six different customization options inside in colors such as Ivory, Caramel, Red, Patina Chrome, Satin Chrome and Ocean Blue. Furthermore, five custom packs for colored touch on insert on door lower protection and wheel cabochon are available.
Exterior
The recognizable design pattern of the carmaker continues with the new model which comes with full-LED “Pure Vision” front lights. Because of these lights, the Captur looks handsome, but more importantly, the safety has increased, and the glare has been reduced. At the very bottom, the C-shaped LED DRLs are visible, and they have become the brand’s signature, while the rear lights are similar to the front.
When you take a look at the new Renault Captur, you cannot help but notice the similarities between this model and the bigger Kadjar. The front radiator grille has been redesigned, and there is a clear addition of a chrome strip. Both front and rear bumper come with new skid plates whereas four types of wheels are offered – Extreme and Adventure 16-inch ones and Emotion and Explore 17-inch units.
As a customer, you can add a fixed glass roof which is only available in the car’s two-tone configuration. With it, you will have more light in the cabin, and it will appear to be even more spacious.
Interior and Features
The interior of the 2018 Renault Captur is more refined than ever, and there is high-quality plastic combined with chrome. The steering wheel is made of materials that enhance the status of the car, while the gear lever is more modern. Door panels are modified, and now you can find buttons and controls on them, whereas some upper trims come with seats that offer lateral support and are more comfortable.
The sound comes from Bose’s premium sound system, and the music is clearly heard through six speakers plus there is a subwoofer that is located in the trunk. The base model is equipped with the latest version of R&Go smart system which converts the smartphone into a tablet in the universal cradle.
Meanwhile, the mid-range versions have Media Nav Evolution system which offers navigation with traffic information, audio streaming via your smartphone, a reversing camera display, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a Driving Eco2 function which improves fuel efficiency. Renault’s R-Link Evolution is the most advanced multimedia system since it brings real-time traffic updates, 3G, Bluetooth, and many more features. What is important is that R-Link Evolution is compatible with Android Auto.
The 2018 Renault Captur will have blind spot warning for the first time, and four sensors work in combination to detect a vehicle that is in your blind spot. If the vehicle (motorcycles and bicycles included) stays there for over a second, an indicator light up on the door mirror. Furthermore, the new car comes with both rear and front parking sensor and a reversing camera to make everything easier. Meanwhile, the range-topper and higher-end version will come with the hands-free Easy Park Assist function, and this system helps detect all the available parking spaces if you drive below 30 kph. It also coordinates the vehicle’s steering, and the driver can only focus on acceleration and braking.
The Initiale Paris (IP)
The bespoke grille already sets the Captur IP apart, whereas the skid plates sport a more metallic gray finish. Furthermore, the chrome inserts on both sides of the crossover incorporate Initiale Paris branding. This version comes in different colors such as the new Amethyst Black, but it also has special 17-inch wheels. The branding can be seen on the lower door panels and door sills as well.
The interior of the Initiale Paris is upscale and standard equipment includes heated Nappa leather seats, Nappa leather trimming for the steering wheel, a leather-trimmed dash, aluminum pedals and door sills and chrome details. All those posh features we have mentioned are included in this version which also comes with hands-free entry and keyless ignition.
Engine Choices
The 2018 Renault Captur can be purchased with four different petrol and diesel engines. The two diesel units are the dCi 90 that is connected to either automatic or manual transmission and the dCi 110 paired with manual only. This unit delivers 110 hp and 260 NM of torque. The two petrol engines are the Energy TCe 90 and TCe 120, which generates 205 Nm of torque.
2018 Renault Captur Price and Release Date
The 2018 Renault Captur may debut in early 2018, and the entry-level model will probably start at around £15,000, while the top-spec models will be sold for more than £22,500.
