Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been struggling with the sales of its tablets and to revive those it wishes to bring a new version of iPad to the market. It has been informed by few people familiar with the matter that the manufacturing of those tablets by the suppliers is under progress, reports Bloomberg.
Mini version also expected
The new iPad is said to sport a 9.7-inch screen and mass production of the same has started. The tablet will be revealed by the company either by the end of September or October starting, informs Bloomberg.
We could also get to see a new 7.9-inch version of iPad mini, which too has entered the stage of production and hence can be available by year end, according to Bloomberg. When inquired about the same with Trudy Muller, a spokeswoman for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) no comment was received regarding the same.
Bloomberg informs that the company is facing several production constraints with the smaller iPad, which are forcing the company to delay its release further along with impacting the bigger version of the iPad.
The company has plans of adding a new feature of an anti-reflection coating, which is causing the troubles and hence the delay. This feature is an awesome one, but is much less talked about. The users will be able to view clips and images or read text on the iPad easily with the anti-reflection coated devices.
Dwindling tablet sales
In the year 2010, the first iPad was launched by Apple after which the tablet market saw many new entrants. This was initially doing well, but later the sales started plummeting from the year 2012, when many large screen phones made their entry into the market. People developed a preference for the large screen phones and the preference for tablets started diminishing. This led to a delay in the replacement of tablets by the people.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) tablets and phones are preferred by the public, but they have not been able to make place for themselves in the corporate world. Therefore, for tapping this market it has entered into an exclusive partnership with International Business Machines Corp (NYSE:IBM), which was announced in July. The company will take the responsibility of making sales of iPads and iPhones to the corporate, and it hopes that the tablet sales will be rejuvenated after this.
