To those who are not familiar with it, Taxi Brooklyn is a police comedy TV series and its a co-production of USA and France, while the creator and executive producer is Gary Scott Thompson. Taxi Brooklyn draws its inspiration from successful Taxi franchise made by Luc Besson. This comedy TV show features a female NYPD detective and a taxi driver who is a French native.
During season 1 this series got sort of mixed reviews from critics, but the viewers, on the other hand, were more generous and gave a lot of favorable comments which is why this one has a score of 51 out of 100 on Metacritic (based on 15 reviews from the critics). The series received the rating of 6.3 out of 10 by the viewers (out of 31 reviews), while the Rotten Tomatoes gave it a score of 4.6 out of 10 which was based on 16 critic reviews. This time around, audience rated the TV Show 3 out of 5 with 40% approval rating (based on 48 users).
On IMDb, it scored 6.1 out of 10 based on 2,200 user votes and a total of 45 reviews from the fans and one critic review. Taxi Brooklyn received a rate of 6.8 out of 10 on TV.com. As you can obviously see the pattern, this show was constantly better rated by the audience than actual critics, and that is mainly why they are having a tough time deciding about season 2. Just to note, the pilot episode, which was directed by Olivier Megaton, managed to draw an astonishing figure of over 5.34 million viewers while slightly less – 5.12 million viewers – saw the season finale. Not bad!
This entire show revolves around two protagonists, Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh) an Irish American NYPD detective and Leo Romba (Jacky Ido) a current taxi driver and a former prisoner who is suffering from claustrophobia. Cat somehow found herself in trouble when her driving license is suspended, and that is when she decides to hire Leo to be her chauffeur and assistant as well. Leo’s past turned out to be somewhat useful, and this guy proved that he has something that every police detective should have – thinking out of the box. That is how this strange partnership began and continued for 22 episodes in which they solved the cases at hand as well as the mysterious murder of Cat’s father.
Now, the info you have been waiting for. Unfortunately, every fan of the show remembers March 6th, 2015 when NBC decided to cancel this show after only one season. What is more important is that we, sadly, have nothing to cheer you up with because there is still nothing official regarding the return of Taxi Brooklyn for the second season on NBC. As you know, it was reported to be canceled in the US, so there just may be a spot of hope for it returning to another streaming video service. Fingers crossed!
