It wasn’t an easy free agency for all the big name running backs from the past as most of them struggled to find a new home. It seems that the one that had it the easiest was Marshawn Lynch as this guy knew where he wants to play, the team that he was interested in welcomed him with open arms and there wasn’t any doubt whether or not he will play for the Raiders next season.
But, when it comes to guys like Adrian Peterson, Eddie Lacy or Jaamal Charles, they had to wait for some team to pick them up. Lacy was the first one to get a deal as Seattle was willing to take a chance with him. Then, just a couple of days ago, New Orleans Saints decided that Adrian Peterson is worth a two-year as they struck a deal with him. The last one to get signed was Jaamal Charles as he agreed to a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos.
Charles was once considered to be one of the best backs in the league as he was able to catch passes out of the backfield as well as to run with the ball. Denver is not giving up too much money here, and they are in a low-risk but the high-reward situation with Jaamal Charles.
He knows Denver really well as he played for the Chiefs, a squad that is in the same division as Denver and a team that is going to be on the Broncos’ schedule this year as well. It is going to be interesting to see Charles playing twice against his former teammates, especially when the Broncos come to Arrowhead, one of the loudest stadiums in the whole league. This is the last chance for Charles in the NFL as he needs to prove that he can stay healthy as well as that he is able to produce at a high level.
