Ford Ranger will finally return to the US, and there are already some spy shots which show that the US-spec model is being developed at the moment. The tests are taking place on the roads in Colorado, and this is just the second time that this vehicle has been spotted undergoing the trails, but we are sure we will see more of it.
Considering that the truck wears heavy covers, it is difficult to tell what the 2019 Ford Ranger will look like. According to some reports, the model for the North America will come with a more prominent design cues compared to the one sold in Europe and the rest of the World. The Ranger should be available in Crew Cab and Super Cab options, whereas the exterior appearance should be similar to the design of the ongoing Ford F-150.
The all-new truck will be equipped with EcoBoost 4- and 6-cylinder engines while the diesel option is still on the table but haven’t been confirmed. Meanwhile, the top-shelf model will probably come with the biturbo EcoBoost V6 with direct injection. Ford and GM developed the new ten-speed automatic transmission which will be standard on all models, and the Blue Oval plans to offer both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
The new vehicle will sit on the ongoing T6 platform that is also used for the European Ranger. The American carmaker will use this platform for the new Ford Bronco, which, together with the Ranger, is going to be assembled at Ford’s Wayne, Michigan facility, but the development will take place at the company’s Asia-Pacific Engineering Center in Victoria, Australia.
This is just the beginning for the US-spec 2019 Ford Ranger. It might be introduced at the next year’s Detroit Auto Show, and it will go on sale as the 2019 model. Follow us for more details.
