First aired in September last year, Luke Cage immediately received positive reviews both from critics and audience. Soon after the Season 1 release, in December last year, it was officially announced that the series will be renewed for Season 2. Then earlier this month, Simone Missick (Misty Knight) hinted that, most likely, the team was about to start with Luke Cage Season production in the near future. And now, we finally have this announcement confirmed by the show’s star Michael Colter.
This is not the only Marvel rollout that has been talked about a lot lately. Iron Man premiered in March, a superhero fiction TV series The Defenders is set to come out on August 18, while The Punisher will see the light of day later this year. But, even if you were so busy keeping track of all the Marvel shows that you might have forgotten about Luke Cage for a second, we’re sure that Colter’s announcement has shifted focus back to the series.
According to Comicbook.com, last Sunday at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo the actor decided to break the great news. He said that the filming would definitely start in June this year, which means it will be finished at the beginning of the next year, probably in March. Bearing this in mind, we can reach a conclusion that we can expect Luke Cage Season 2 to be released by the end of 2018. However, that’s only our guess for now, as the exact release date has not been mentioned yet.
As for the Season 2 storyline, they are still keeping it under wraps. Cheo Hodari Coker, the producer of the show, only made a comment about the first season, saying that in the end, it can be concluded that it was about “the evolution of a hero,” which can be understood as a teaser that “Heroes for Hire” might open as one of the possibilities for Season 2. That’s all we know for now, but we assume more details will be revealed soon enough, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.
