About the Accord and Its Design
The ongoing ninth-generation Honda Accord was introduced back in 2012, and one year ago it received a facelift. The time has come for the popular vehicle to enter a new generation, which will hopefully bring in new customers. On the spy shots, you can clearly spot some Civic-like design cues such as fastback roofline and the short trunk. The headlights of the new model will be same as the ones of its predecessor, but considering that this is a test mule we are talking about, the production headlamps may not have been installed yet. When the carmaker decides to assemble a larger model, it may face some problems, but that is usually not the case. Under The Hood
The 2018 Honda Accord will receive new engines, and there is a possibility that some of the units, which can be found under the Civic’s hood, are going to power the new Accord. A 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 petrol powerplant will come instead of the 2.4-liter engine, and it will generate more than 180 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. Many people believe that the V6 engine is going to stay, but it appears that Honda wants to replace this unit as well.
According to the rumors, the Japanese carmaker is working on a new 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 unit, which would be perfect for the new Malibu and the Accord too. This new powerplant could easily produce more power than the V6, more torque than the V6 and improve fuel efficiency while doing that. Moreover, the new engine might be mated to an also new nine-speed automatic transmission. Some other reports indicate that the V6 is not going to be out of the picture, so it might be available as an option.

New Honda Accord Release Date
There are so many rumors and speculations about the launch of the 2018 Honda Accord, but since there is no official information, we will take these slightly skeptically. However, Honda is definitely cooking something. The Japanese carmaker will offer the new car as 2018 model, and we have proof – spy photos in which we can see the new car heavily camouflaged. It is expected to go on sale at the end of 2017, while it will be debuted in the next few months.
We don’t know the exact release date, but some rumors indicate that we will see this car in September this year. The Hybrid version might be overhauled as well, while some reports suggest that modifications under the hood are unlikely while the Hybrid will not arrive immediately after the introduction of the standard version. This means that the Accord hybrid will probably hit the market about a year after the gasoline-only powered versions.
