Soon after the release of superhero movie Deadpool last year it was known for sure that we can expect to see its sequel in not so distant future. And now, we know for sure that the team has started the preparations for Deadpool 2. It is also confirmed that the upcoming film will be directed by David Leitch (he worked on John Wick), while the script is written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Now, when it comes to the cast, Ryan Reynolds will return to take on his role of the main character, but you probably were aware of this for quite some time. The character that was speculated about much more is Cable. There was a long list of candidates who were mentioned as possible actors for this part, including Brad Pitt, Michael Shannon, Pierce Brosnan and Russell Crowe. However, none of them was eventually chosen.
Earlier this month it was officially announced that Josh Brolin would be the one to make an appearance as Cable. It was reported that Brolin “emerged as a surprise contender for the hotly contested role.” In addition to this, we now also know that Leslie Uggams will join the Deadpool 2 crew and again play Blind Al, Deadpool’s roommate.
Deadpool 2 Release Date
As for the official release date, the studio has not revealed the exact date yet, but we do know that the movie is set to come out at the beginning of 2018. In just a couple of months, more precisely, in June, they will start shooting, so we believe everything will be ready just in time.
Finally, here’s what Simon Kinberg, the producer, had to say about the sequel: “I think Deadpool 2 will comment on anything that’s happening in movies today especially in superhero movies. The sort of glut or saturation of these movies and the proliferation of sequels is definitely something we’ll play around with.”
