Call of Duty series keeps getting better and better, and the next game will be set during World War II as Activision officially confirmed.
The announcement was brief, but according to the publisher, we are going to find out more about the Call of Duty: WWII in a live stream next Wednesday. For now, we only have this promotional photo that was delivered. Although the release date of the actual game was not officially marked on the calendar, we all know that Activision announces its Call of Duty games in spring and they go on sale in November.
The report states: “Call of Duty returns to its World War II roots with Call of Duty: WWII, developed by Sledgehammer Games. More details are incoming during the game’s Worldwide Reveal livestream on Wednesday, April 26 featuring Sledgehammer Games co-studio heads and founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield. Fans will be able to tune in to get a first look at Call of Duty: WWII and get intel on the studio’s vision for the game.”
The first game of the popular series was launched back in 2003, and it was set in the World War II. There were four more titles set in that time period with the best one probably being the Call of Duty: World at War. However, the franchise focused on other conflicts and wars, so we have battles in the 1960s and the future.
Sledgehammer Games was established back in 2009 by ex-members of Visceral Games that produced the sci-fi horror action adventure series called Dead Space. This company helped developing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 just two years after it was founded. Furthermore, they created Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 2016 and this game received positive feedback. Now they are working on the new Call of Duty: WWII.
Activision spoke to the investors and said that the upcoming game “will take Call of Duty back to its roots” and that the futuristic setting in the Infinite Warfare “just didn’t resonate.”
