If you want to hide your vehicle than downtown LA definitely isn’t a good place for that. That is something that Jeep learned recently trying to run from prying lenses of spy photographers who caught it driving around. Just how big menace the spy cameras are, proves the fact that driver of the camouflaged 2018 Jeep Wrangler tried everything to get away from it. He went to the extent of running a red light and with that earning an even bigger menace following him around – the LA police!
But as all of this was happening our very lucky photographer managed to get some great shots that unfortunately do not reveal anything we didn’t know so far, especially with a couple of those leaked photos from last month. What we do see is that Jeep is trying very hard to keep the new Wrangler tied to its boxy roots, but the overall look and feel will be a lot less chunky and upright when the camo goes down.
The hood of the vehicle is definitely longer, but unfortunately, we are not able to see the roof from these pictures, so we can’t know if it will have removable roof panels for open-air enjoyment on hardtops like some of the previous models had. What we do expect is that the Jeep will go through with those nice LED fender integrated lights, as well as the LED tail lights.
Since it is already in LA, there is a possibility that the company will decide to unveil their 2018 Wrangler at the Los Angeles Auto Show which is later this year, and start sales early next year. As far as engine options go, it should offer a range of units including the turbocharged four-cylinder and the all-familiar 3.6-liter V6, plus the hybrid powertrains that will surely follow. The transmission options for the 2018 Wrangler come down to the choice between either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual.
Since the Wrangler is a well known off-road beast Jeep officials have announced that they will work very hard to enhance its abilities, when taken off the beaten path, even more. This will make the brand purists feel relaxed and satisfied, and even more after that Jeep experience in Utah.
