The 2018 Toyota Tundra brings some changes to the exterior design, and it should be more handsome than the previous model. New mesh and billet grille are expected, and it will be different depending on a trim level, while the better-equipped models will come with LED headlights and fog lights. The Tundra will be offered in a lot of trims so that every customer can find the suitable variant.
Trims
The 2018 Tundra will be available also as a TRD Sport model which will be joining the already-existent SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition and TRD Pro. The SR model is available with the regular cab style whereas models from the SR to the TRD Pro (without the 1794 Edition and Platinum) are offered as Double Cabs. The SR version cannot be bought with the CrewMax, but this cab style is available in all the other versions of the truck.
2018 Tundra Exterior
All 2018 Toyota Tundras are going to sport LED daytime running lights and as we have already mentioned a new mesh grille will cover the front end of the car. Only the Limited and the 1794 Edition models will receive a billet-style grille. These two will be joined by the Platinum SR5 with TRD Off-Road Package and TRD Sport as the models that will come with new LED headlights and fog lights.
Optional Features
The Tundra SR5 comes with extra chrome trim, an updated infotainment system with a connected navigation app, TRD Off-Road Package, sliding rear window and fog lights. If you go for the TRD Sport you will get color-keyed bumpers, grille surround, mesh grille insert, 20-inch wheels, TRD shift knob and TRD floor mats. Under the hood is a powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine, whereas a hood scoop makes this model look even more aggressive.
The TRD Pro is the next in line, and it is designed for off-road driving specifically. This is why this Tundra features special suspension tuning, unique 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, performance exhaust, leather seats and premium infotainment with navigation. The Limited trim brings the billet-styled grille and 20-inch wheels to the table, while you can also find dual-zone automatic climate control, power sliding rear windows and heated front seats. There are some luxurious details as well.
The 2018 Toyota Tundra Platinum sports special design details, authentic wheels and among standard features, you can find auto-dimming glass, a rear cross-traffic alert system and a blind-spot warning system. In addition, the Platinum is equipped with the infotainment that brings JBL premium sound system, a power sunroof, premium carpeting and floor mats. The 1794 Edition is identical to the Platinum, but with a different, unique design.
Toyota Tundra Engine
Under the hood of the 2018 Toyota Tundra is either a 4.7-liter V8 engine that delivers 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque or a larger 5.7-liter V8 which produces 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. The choice is up to you, but both units are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels. According to the EPA estimates, this truck is rated at 13 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. The fuel economy figures may not be great, but have in mind that this is a pickup and that it can tow up to 10,500 lbs.
Safety and Tech
The Japanese carmaker introduced the Safety Sense package which brings forward-collision warning system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning system, automatic high-beam lights and dynamic radar cruise control.
Entune infotainment systems are installed in the 2018 Toyota Tundra models, and the basic one is a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, reversing camera, voice recognition with Siri Eyes Free, USB port and music streaming capability. There is a bigger 7-inch display which comes with a Scout connected navigation app, satellite and HD Radio. The third in the line brings navigation system and Entune App Suite, whereas the top version adds a JBL premium sound system. The interior of the 2018 version is the same as the one of the previous model.
