The Lexus NX was an attractive vehicle, but the carmaker decided that the time has come for a refresh. That is why the new slightly redesigned version has just been unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. With this small design changes, the NX has become even more stunning than before.
According to Lexus, the entire front end has been redesigned, and although it does look different, it takes an experienced eye to notice those changes. Lexus’ spindle front grille and headlights have been reshaped together with the thick-shaped LED DRLs.
Moreover, the front air intakes and fog lights have been changed on both NX 300h and NX 300 F Sport models, while the rear end now includes bigger chrome-tipped exhaust pipes while the NX 300h has received a new underbody spoiler. Also, the chrome elements that take the L shape have been added to the both sides of the rear bumper, whereas the customers can opt for the new set of 18-inch wheels.
The Lexus NX 300 sports the same 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine as the current NX 200t, while you can find the NX 300h with a 2.5-liter I4 that is combined with two electric motors. The complete output of these two versions remains unchanged, according to the Japanese carmaker.
In order to improve ride and handling, the engineers tuned the suspension of the 2018 Lexus NX. Modified springs, stabilizer bars, and bushings are some of the changes worth mentioning, and these upgraded parts are responsible for turn-in response and better cornering. The ride quality, meanwhile, has been improved with the addition of the new shock absorbers whereas the NX has employed the Adaptive Variable Suspension System – the same one that you can find in the LC 500. The powerful NX F Sport model is different from the rest of the family as it incorporates a black front grille, exclusive wheels and a new trim in the cabin.
Chief Engineer of the Lexus NX, Takeaki Kato said about the refreshed car: “For the new NX, we made bold refinements to the design, elevated its performance and added new features to enhance its comfort and convenience. The new NX still possesses the same elements that have made it popular in the past—a sharp design, everyday convenience and driving pleasure that will satisfy all enthusiasts—but the vehicle as a whole has evolved dramatically, as you’re bound to see and feel when you first experience it.”
