There was a lot of excitement during the Cruiserweight tournament last summer as the matches that these guys put on were amazing. It was really a thing of beauty. Because of that, everybody had high expectations for this division on Monday Night Raw, but they were never really able to come close to meeting those expectations. It is actually not the fault of the performers, but rather the incapability or the lack of interest from the company to book them right or give them the attention that they need.
When you don’t make a good impression right away, you are going to have a hard time changing it later on. That is what happened with this Cruiserweight division. The company decided that the best way to go about this is to make a new show on the WWE Network called 205 Live where these guys will be given the time and the attention to shine.
But, because of the lack of a good first impression, not many people care about this division and the show. WWE is filming 205 Live after Smackdown Live on Tuesday nights, but the crowd really is not all that interested, and we could notice that many people are leaving the building right after the blue brand finishes their episode.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, 205 Live’s viewership during the past couple of months has been horrible when you compare it to the rest of the programs that run on the WWE Network and are actually beating the Cruiserweights in ratings. This is for sure going to start conversations about what the WWE should be doing with this division going forward.
