Each year, the smartphone department gets better, and in 2016 we saw some interesting phones delivered to the market, but 2017 is expected to be even bigger. Nokia has already returned to the race and BlackBerry has brought the QWERTY keyboard, but what is also there?
Samsung Galaxy S8
The Samsung Galaxy S8 has been officially introduced together with the larger Galaxy S8 Plus. These new models feature Bixby, which is the company’s new AI assistant. The phone comes with 5.8-inch QHD+ “Infinity” display and better performance due to the handset’s 10nm internals. In addition, 12 MP DualPixel camera, Android 7.0 Nougat and the DeX station that can turn your phone into a PC are included.
iPhone 8
2017 marks the 10th anniversary of Apple iPhone, so we can’t wait to see what lies in store for us this time round. According to the rumors, Apple iPhone 8 will be the most exciting device this year, and the leaks indicate that we will see the handset with an AMOLED display, all glass body and included wireless charging support. We are looking forward to September when the iPhone 8 will debut.
Nokia 8
Nokia returned to the game with the Nokia 3, 5 and 8 at the MWC earlier this year, where the new Nokia 3310 was also unveiled. Nokia 8 is the company’s flagship device that will arrive in June, and it should offer IP68 water and dust resistance, while the customers can choose between a 5.2 and 5.5-inch devices. Both of these will come with QHD 2560 x 1440 AMOLED display and we are so excited for Nokia.
Huawei P10
The Huawei P10 has a 5.1-inch Full HD resolution display, unlike the P10 Plus which comes with a 5.5-inch QHD panel. Leica camera technology that was also the part of the P9 smartphones remains here and the pair of new devices sport dual 12MP RGB and 20 MP monochrome lenses for the great picture quality. The metal body is replaced with the Ceramic White, but you can also opt for either blue or gold “Hyper Diamond” tech which protects the phone from scratches or fingerprints. There is also the standard stainless steel variant available in green, rose gold, gold and silver.
OnePlus 4
OnePlus 4 (possibly called OnePlus 5) will be the best smartphone so far from this company. Not much is known about this device, but a high-end metal casing is expected, while the processor will be the Snapdragon 835. It will be equipped with a 5.5-inch QHD display, 21 or 23 MP rear camera, 4,000mAh battery, Android 7.0 Nougat and 8GB of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is (hopefully) not going to catch fire. This handset is still a mystery, but we can see it support the Samsung’s S Pen stylus, while it will probably have an iris scanner and a 5.7-inch display. Rumor has it that a 4K resolution is expected and support for Google’s Daydream VR platform as well as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The introduction of the new Note 8 should happen in August this year.
BlackBerry KeyOne
The BlackBerry KeyOne is an interesting phone because it brings the QWERTY keyboard back. The keypad will consist of 52 buttons, all of which can be customized into shortcuts, but besides that, there is a fingerprint scanner located inside the spacebar for extra safety. Moving up and you will see a 4.5-inch 1620 x 1080 display, while this device uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and a 3,505mAh battery. The new company’s “Boost” charging technology will pioneer on the BlackBerry KeyOne, and because of it, you can charge it to 50 percent in 36 minutes.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium
The Xperia XZ Premium was shown at Mobile World Congress, and it is the right successor to the Xperia Z5 Premium. This smartphone comes with HDR 4K screen that packs 880ppi pixel density. WOW! On the rear side, you can see an all-new 19 MP camera sensors that can shoot 960fps slow-mo videos. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor powers Sony’s device which will go on sale in May.
Surface Phone
Microsoft might finally present its Surface Phone in 2017. According to speculations, three variants will be offered – with 4GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB (RAM/Internal Storage). USB-C port will be available on all three versions, and the Surface Phone is expected to feature a 5.7-inch AMOLED display and an integrated fingerprint scanner. Once it goes out (if it does), it will be able to run Windows 10 desktop apps.
