You probably have read our article from yesterday by now, and you know that the teased Navigator concept is a thing of reality. Lincoln made us wait an entire year before they made the concept into something you can touch, feel and hope to drive in a period that isn’t so far away thanks to the NY Auto Show introduction it just made. Today the 2018 Lincoln Navigator magnificently debuted and let us tell you that it looks and feels incredible.
With an all new Navigator, the company is definitely trying to jump over Cadillac especially when it comes to SUV luxury supremacy. The task of doing just that is hard, but when you consider what Lincoln has in store for us, it doesn’t seem that difficult anymore. Inside of the new Navigator is very luxurious with driver and passenger seats having padding on top of padding, which putting the multi-contour thrones in another category with them being stitched in exquisite French leather.
With Lincoln’s Perfect Position Seats you have 30-way adjustable seats for the most control of your seating position than any automaker out there has to offer. The cabin is made in a way that it reduces the noises from outside to the max and the company managed to do that by laminating windows and improving sound deadening in all segments of the vehicle. This is actually helping the optional 20 speakers Revel II sound system to sing even better and without any outside interferences.
If you also want an accessible vehicle, besides it being luxurious, then this is an SUV for you. The all-new Navigator includes Apple Car Play and Android Auto, both of which are controlled by the great-looking 10-inch center touchscreen display, and the infotainment system which offers a 4G WiFi hotspot for the road. The SYNC 3 System, which draws roots from Ford, is also there and it is still offering that easy-to-use dynamic everyone is grown accustomed to. In front of a driver is a reconfigurable 12-inch digital dash cluster that is also standard and which will allow you a clear straightforward viewing.
As we reported yesterday, the styling of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator is simply awesome, and we couldn’t believe how much of the design cues managed to find their way on the production vehicle from that gull-winged door concept. At the front of the new Navigator you will notice a lot more prominent and handsome-looking fascia which, opposed to the outgoing model, now has a stronger and more aggressive definition. The profile is sleek and has a smooth transition from the front to the back of the SUV where you can find a single-piece taillight. All in all, it is a well-rounded look and design that definitely will not leave anyone underwhelmed.
Things in the engine compartment have been improved as well. This vehicle now hosts a rejuvenated 3.5 L Ecoboost V6 unit that, with twin-turbo force, now produces 450 HP and 500 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to the newly developed 10-speed automatic gearbox which should improve the ride feel especially in town, as well as the MPG ratios.
2018 Lincoln Navigator Price
The fact is that there is still no word on pricing yet, but with all being said we believe that the new Navigator will come really close to the Cadillac Escalade price tag of $74,000. That there ladies and gentlemen is a huge leap from the old Navigator’s $64,000 starting price, which is not that strange considering what you are paying for.
