Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) hosted its I/O fest on Wednesday, which is for the developers primarily, and its Android software drew everybody’s attention to it. Connected TVs, cars, wearable devices will all have the Android software as the driving force behind them, most of the executives emphasized. Is short, Google wants its Android software to power everything including phones, cars, TVs and many more other things.
“Our goal is to reach the next 5 billion people in the world,” told Sundar Pichai, Google’s Android chief to more than 6,000 developers in San Francisco.
Google Android dominates many segments
The smartphone and tablet market is slowly taking over the personal computers market as more and more people have shifted their preferences towards these, and the Android software has been adopted by the biggest smartphones manufacturers of which Samsung is the leader. More than one billion active users across the world use the Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s OS, informed Pichai.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) has entered maximum possible areas with Android that include mobiles, smartphones, PCs, tablets, smartwatches, and appliance displays; while Apple has restricted itself to PCs, mobile devices, and few media services only. Presence in maximum areas helps the internet giant to provide the companies and advertisers with valuable user data. The plus point with the Android is that it is an open platform that makes it possible for the other brands to modify it to suit their needs of which Samsung is one example.
Similar feel for Android devices
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) launched ‘L’, a new version of Android, for suiting the needs of the manufacturers. At the same event, the company informed that it wants all the Android run devices to have a look and feel that is similar and for this purpose a new programming language has been designed known as ‘Material Design’.
“Users will already know the way around your app, no matter what system you’re on,” said Matias Duarte, a vice president of Android design. Backend improvements have been made, which will help enhance the speed of the operating system, along with better graphics and, also, a battery life that is longer than before.
An in-car system has been introduced by Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) known as Android Auto, which will beam an Android phone’s data and content on to the screen of the dashboard. Android TV was, also, introduced by Google for making a space in the living rooms of users for the Android OS.
