The freshman show Bull seems to be undergoing another change at its top. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS’ this series is going to change showrunners before the renewal for the show’s second season has even been announced.
Glenn Gordon Caron, the creator of Moonlighting and Medium, has signed an overall contract with producers CBS Television Studios and will be the new showrunner instead of Mark Goffman, who will leave the show at the end of the first season. It seems that he wants to focus on development under the deal he signed with the studio. Furthermore, Caron signed a two-year contract with the company.
Namely, Caron will join the series during the first season in order to get a grasp of what’s going on and what his role in the show will be, which he will be learning from Goffman as the first season approaches its final episodes. Goffman has been in Bull since the pilot was picked up to series.
The storyline of the drama revolves loosely around the life of Dr. Phil McGraw whose character is portrayed by Michael Weatherly. The series ranks as the No 1. Freshman series and No. 3 scripted series among total viewers. Judging by these facts, renewal of the show is almost certain.
As reported by 3 Arts, Ziffren Brittenham and WME, Caron was an executive producer on Howard Gordon’s Tyrant on 20th Television, and now he has decided to move on to CBSTVS.
Bull has just become the latest freshman series which will get new showrunners. The ones that changed them previously are Fox’s Star and ABC’s Designated Survivor, which are both now on their third showrunner. Moreover, Fox’s animated hybrid comedy Son of Zorn, CBS’ Kevin James comedy Kevin Can Wait and NBC’s DC Comics comedy Powerless are also on this list of ours.
