Tony Romo had four years in which he passed over 4,000 yards in a season. The thing that is similar for all of those is the fact that Romo was one of the most exciting players in the league, throwing many touchdowns, but also making a lot of mistakes. The number of TDs was always high just like the number of the interceptions.
The one year in when that wasn’t the case was the 2014 NFL campaign. Romo threw for 3,705 yards in 2014 while he completed 69,9% of his passes. DeMarco Murray was on fire all season long, and that is why the number of yards wasn’t eye-popping. Still, the Dallas Cowboys had the winning formula, they didn’t force throwing the ball, Romo was flinging it when he needed to, making all kinds of big plays in the clutch.
All of this enabled him to throw for 34 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. A great ratio and the best rate of his career. On top of all of that, Dallas Cowboys were victorious in 12 games that year and won their division. Dallas even went to the divisional round by beating the Lions after Tony led them to a big second half comeback. He was also great against the Packers, but Green Bay and an unlucky Bryant catch or no-catch situation were just a bit too much for him to overcome. All of this makes 2014 season Romo’s best.
