When the Dallas Cowboys made a selection of the Dak Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, nobody really thought that this would be a big move for the future of this franchise. The decision to take him was probably a better one that to draft Ezekiel Elliot 4th overall, just based on the difficulty alone.
ESPN is always giving out rewards for the best value of the picks in NFL Draft, and there is no doubt that Dak Prescott, a quarterback of the future for the Dallas Cowboys, is the best value pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was drafted as a guy who was supposed to learn the game of pro football behind Tony Romo, and he ended up being the best thing that happened to Dallas in the past couple of years.
He led this team to 13 wins in 2016 and the first overall seed in the NFC. Prescott did it by throwing for 3,667 yards with 23 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions in the season. Todd McShay, a guy who was doing these rankings for the ESPN, was impressed with him as he picked Prescott to be the best value pick out of all the players that were drafted last year.
“Granted, a great offensive line protected him well and Ezekiel Elliott helped provide balance, but there’s no doubt that Prescott improved his mechanics. That led to his showing more accuracy as a rookie than we saw on the college tape we studied.”
We need to add that the running game and o-line helped Prescott in a big way. Still, he showed a lot of poise and leadership considering that he was a fourth-round rookie quarterback. Playing in Dallas, with Romo watching over your shoulder, Prescott had a lot of pressure on him, but he responded well. That is why he is the best value pick from the 2016 NFL Draft class.
