Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Chief Tim Cook’s comprehensive profile has recently been covered by a report from New York Times. The report is focused on Tim Cook and talks about many phases starting from his childhood days and important lifetime events such as his work on human rights. The report, also, reveals some unknown details about the iWatch that is very much in rumors from quite some time now, which somewhat confirms that the gadget is indeed real and will be available soon.
Cook Vs. Jobs
According to the report, the new device from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) i.e. the iWatch is expected to be launched by the company in the fourth quarter of the year. Ming Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI securities, too had predicted this time frame. Cook’s predecessor, Steve Jobs, always used to be very hands on with all the new products by Apple, but same is not the case with Tim Cook, as indicated by the report. He is not involved much in the iWatch.
The report says that though Cook’s approach-ability and intellect is praised by the employees at lower-levels, but in their opinion when it comes to being hands-on in developing products he is not as proactive as his predecessor Steve Jobs.
“Cook is less involved in the minutiae of product engineering for the watch, and has instead delegated those duties to members of his executive cabinet, including Mr. Ive, according to people involved in the project, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to press, ” according to the report.
Cook hiring experts
Cook has set his focus on the broader implications of iWatch such as its features. One such distinct feature is the heart rate monitor; the data aggregation will be able to help the doctors. Focusing more on features does not mean that his engagement with the product is not much, the report says.
Cook is aiming to make considerable improvements to the iWatch and for this purpose he is not relying solely on the people within the organization, but also seeks help from talent available outside the company. For this purpose, it has made multiple hires as well. One such hire is Michael O’ Reilly, former medical officer of the Masimo Corporation that makes health monitoring devices. It is presumed that this was done with the purpose of ramping up such services on the iWatch. Another prominent hire by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is Paul Deneve, former Yves Saint Laurent chief, who will be working on special projects, reportedly in the medical and health sector.
