The new 2018 Jaguar F-Type and the new Range Rover Velar are to make their debuts in the US at the New York Auto Show (April). Prior to that event these cars had online premieres and appeared in Geneva.
Placed just under the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque the Velar is the fourth member of the Range Rover family. According to the company, this car will offer ‘new levels of refinement, luxury and all-terrain capability.’ From what we can see it is clear that this car has the potential to become the most extravagant and pretty much hottest looking Range Rover there ever was.
It’s nice to know that you can order this model in the US. The company offers a 2.0-liter diesel and gasoline engine variations. But only a limited number of vehicles have been produced for the special ‘First Edition’ series, and they feature a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 380 hp (283 kilowatts). When it comes to the transmission, the 8-speed automatic is connected to all engines.
Moving on, we have the Jaguar F-Type. This car has a hefty amount of upgrades, and they are well deserved since it is meant for the new model year. Full LED headlights give this vehicle a futuristic and modern look, besides that there are few more visual improvements however they are not so important. One more important thing is the fact that the new model has upgraded seats in the interior which are lighter (8kg-17.7 lbs) than the ones in the previous version. That was achieved with the usage of the pressure die-cast magnesium alloy frame.
Under the hood, there aren’t many novelties. This model is offered with the current engine lineup. However, a limited F-Type 400 Sport Launch Edition will be available, and it will feature a 3.0-liter V6 engine which is upgraded and produces additional 20hp (15kW) for a total of 400hp (298kW). This variant will be available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive; however, the only available option when it comes to the gearbox is the 8-speed Quickshift gearbox. A mechanical limited-slip differential is the standard feature.
We will be able to hear from the officials of Jaguar Land Rover on April 12 when the official press conference is scheduled. We’ll know more about these models on the event. Until then hang in there and stay tuned for more info.
