Having gone through some rough time and having overcome various obstacles, the crew working on Deadpool 2 is just about to start filming the sequel. However, they still have one significant question to answer – who will play one of the main characters in the upcoming movie, Deadpool’s companion Cable?
It has been speculated about various possibilities, and numerous actors have been related to this role recently. As time went by, the list of people who were taken into consideration for getting this one only became longer and longer, but the question remained unanswered. However, we now know that there is definitely one name that we can cross out of the list. And this is not just any name, but probably the biggest one among the competitors for Cable – it’s Brad Pitt.
According to CinemaCon, Brandon Davis has recently talked to David Leitch, the director of the sequel, and asked him about the cast for Cable and Leitch confirmed that Brad Pitt would not play this character. He also explained that the actor really wanted to make an appearance in the movie and that they loved the idea, but they couldn’t make it happen. “We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable,” Leitch said.
Now that Brad Pitt is definitely out of the running for the part, it remains to be seen whether Michael Shannon, David Harbour or perhaps Russell Crowe will be trusted with the role. For the time being, it seems that Shannon has the greatest chances among the three of them.
The sequel is still in pre-production, but, as mentioned above, the filming is expected to begin in the next couple of months, which means they will have to complete the casting process as soon as possible. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated.
