Mauro Ranallo has established himself as the voice of Smackdown Live. He is one of the most knowledgeable people in the world of wrestling when it comes to knowing all the moves in sport and using real wrestling terminology while calling the action. Even though he hasn’t missed a day as a commentator ever since he joined the company, he missed two shows in a row.
He still hasn’t publicly commented on his status, but he did use the Twitter to thank everybody for the support that he has been given over the past two weeks. It is believed that he missed two editions of the blue brand’s show due to a bout of depression. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com has stated that two close friends of Ranallo have said that he is doing OK and that he is resting right now.
A couple of years ago Ranallo talked bout suffering from bipolar disorder. He did an interview with website Sherdog.com a couple of years ago and here is what he had to say about his condition.
“I would go through these unbelievable mood swings,” Ranallo said. “I would come into the house with a smile and ask how everyone is doing and then close my bedroom door and suddenly, ‘I’m going to (expletive) kill you.’ It would scare everybody. I think every person on earth is impacted by mental health issues. People think it’s a label, an excuse. It’s not. It’s very real, but it can be dealt with and I’m living proof people can lead functional lives and be bipolar.”
Hopefully, everything will sort out for Ranallo, and he will get better and back on the track with the show.
