Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not ready with HealthKit as yet for health tracking purposes, but with the help of the new TV ad of iPhone it is making a good attempt to make people aware of how its smartphone can be put to the use of tracking their health and taking the required measures accordingly for keeping fit.
A new commercial from Apple
“You’re more powerful than you think” is a campaign initiated by Apple, and on Wednesday, during the Stanley Cup, a newest TV ad was released by the Cupertino, California based company. In this ad, the iPhone users are shown performing various activities like, swimming, running and weighing themselves and while doing all this they are using accessories and are connected to apps on their smartphones. While the iPhone users are working out, a track plays in the background that says “Go you chicken fat, go away.” Those health related apps that already exist in the market are demonstrated in this ad and no HealthKit features are shown.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shows the customers tracking their progress with the iPhone and third-party accessories such as the Wahoo Fitness Blue SC Speed/Cadence Sensor, Withings Health Mate, Zepp Golf Sensor, Misfit Shine, and Adidas miCoach Smart Ball.
Health & Fitness, new focus area
In the health and fitness market, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been relatively quiet and apart from the HealthKit no other effort has come to light as yet. The iPhone maker partnered with Nike Inc(NYSE:NKE) for a fitness app, but till now it has not come up with any health-centric app or a wearable device of its own. M7 was introduced in the iPhone 5S, which is a new motion co-processor and it continuously works alongside the device’s main chip for measuring the motion data and does not drain battery life.
Many big players in the Tech Sector are increasingly shifting their focus towards Health & Fitness. While certain health-centric gadgets has been introduced by several companies Samsung gear fit and Jawbone Up24 being few examples, there are many others working on introducing smart glucose meters and similar products. Mining patient data or collecting readings on individuals to make predictions about when they can fall sick probably and tailoring treatment is seen as an opportunity by many companies.
