The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast was introduced at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show earlier this year, and it has replaced the F12 Berlinetta as the company’s ultimate grand tourer. Until now, we have had a chance to see this good-looking vehicle at podiums, but it has finally hit the road where it can show that raw power.
This car is based on the F12, but the changes are drastic which may cause you to think that the 812 Superfast is a brand-new vehicle. The engineers had a tough task ahead of them – they were supposed to improve track performance of the 812, whereas it had to be comfortable for some longer trips.
Engine
Under its hood is a new naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 790 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. The only other car that is on the market with a naturally aspirated unit in this league is Ferrari’s LaFerrari which is equipped with a 6.3-liter V12 powerplant that has the same output like the one in the 812 Superfast.
The new Ferrari 812 Superfast also comes with the latest vehicle dynamics control system and components, while there is also a four-wheel steering. The engine of the car is paired with a redesigned seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, whereas the body of the car is aggressive and an electric power steering system debuted on a Ferrari vehicle.
Although the curb weight of the Superfast is 3,600 pounds, the Italian carmaker is confident that the car will be able to reach 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. The limited top speed of this machine is 211 mph, and the deliveries are expected to start later this year.
