The news broke yesterday that Morris Claiborne is leaving the Dallas Cowboys, the team that drafted him 6th overall i 2012, as he is joining the New York Jets. Now, just a day later, Dallas Cowboys lose another defender, a guy that played alongside Claiborne, Brandon Carr. That now leaves the ‘Boys without two of their main players in the secondary.
The cornerback market is finally moving with these two players picking their new teams. It seems that the Dallas Cowboys had no intention of retaining either of these two guys as the Draft is pretty stacked with players that are playing the same position as Carr and Claiborne. Their defense hasn’t been one of the best in the league and that is not what this team is known for.
Dallas is turning the new page on defense so we can expect that they are going to be defense-oriented when the Draft comes. Nobody should be surprised if they decide to use their first round choice for a corner. If not that, the second round pick that they have will be a cornerback for sure.
As far as Brandon Carr is concerned, he is joining the Baltimore Ravens as they are adding some depth to their secondary. Carr is a guy that spent his last five seasons playing in Dallas. He has been drafted back in 2008, he is 30 years of age right now, yet it is interesting that he hasn’t missed a single game in his career. He’s been around for years and the experience that he has, with his durability and availability, is something that Ravens, or any team, could use on their rosters.
