“Tai-Madō Gakuen 35 Shiken Shōtai”, perhaps better known under the title “Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon”, is a light novel series written by Tōki Yanagimi and illustrated by Kippu, first published in 2012. As you probably already know, light novels more often than not eventually serve as a source of inspiration for manga or anime adaptation, or both. Well, this one is no exception.
The first season of the anime adaptation aired between October and December 2015, first on Tokyo MX, and then on other Japanese channels, too (SUN, CTC, TVQ, etc.).
The anime was directed by Tomoyuki Kawamura and developed by Silver Link studio, while Kento Shimoyama was the scriptwriter. As for the English-speaking countries, the series was licensed by Crunchyroll in North America, and you can still find it on this one, and other online streaming websites.
The protagonist of the first season, which comprises only twelve episodes, is Ōka Ōtori, an inquisitor who, just like the rest of the characters, works as a member of a special institution which deals with witches. The organization is supposed to make sure the witches and humans coexist in peace, so its members have to stand in the way of any possible conflict between them, but they also have the power to stop witches from practicing witchcraft. However, problems arise when they abuse their power and that way jeopardize the safety of the residents, instead of protecting them.
Ōka Ōtori hates the witches in particular because her entire family was killed by one. She is sometimes called “a prodigy of the Inquisition,” as she possesses certain skills others seem to lack. Being quite mistrustful, she prefers working alone, but eventually, she begins to trust her platoon and cooperate with others.

We’ll have to disappoint all of you who can’t wait to watch a new season of the anime, as its renewal has not been confirmed yet. Bearing in mind that the light novel series together with manga adaptation are still ongoing, we assume the second season of the anime will definitely come out, but perhaps we shouldn’t expect it in the near future.
