At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Nissan presented its facelifted 2018 Qashqai model that will hit the market in July this year, while the deliveries will commence in the second half of 2017.
Even though more than 230,000 units of the Qashqai were purchased last year in Europe, Nissan decided that the best idea would be if they overhauled their very successful vehicle. The main difference is that the new model will feature an autonomous driving technology named ProPILOT which means that by the end of 2017, the new Qashqai will steer, accelerate and brake by itself in a single highway lane. What remains unknown is whether this technology will be standard on all trims or just on the upper ones.
Emergency braking system with pedestrian recognition and rear cross-traffic alert are some of the new features that will be a part of the facelifted Qashqai. The new vehicle will sport the front grille in the “V” shape as well as the redesigned hood and front and back bumpers. The headlights will come with a new LED daytime running light styling, while the Japanese manufacturer also added an adaptive beam system with the goal to make the vehicle more modern.
2018 Nissan Qashqai Colors
The rear end didn’t undergo such dramatic modifications, but the new taillight motif with a 3D lens effect will be standard nonetheless. The overhauled Nissan Qashqai will be available in two additional colors called Chestnut Bronze and Vivid Blue, whereas new 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels are going to be offered as well.
The cabin is expected to bring a more upscale feel because of the higher-quality materials that have been installed inside. The multifunction steering wheel will feature a flat bottom, and there is a fresh user interface for the infotainment system. What is new is that the top trim called Tekna+ has joined the lineup and it brings 3D-effect quilted leather upholstery, and reports say that the customers can opt for the Renault Kadjar’s Bose seven-speaker sound system.
Engine
The suspension and steering of the new 2018 Nissan Qashqai have also gone through several changes, and as a result, the comfort has been upgraded. The engine choices will remain the same which means that a base 1.2-liter petrol unit that delivers 113 bhp and a more powerful 1.6-liter petrol good for 161 bhp will continue to power the refreshed vehicle. In addition, the company offers a 1.5 and 1.6-liter diesel engines.
