Instead of producing another three-door coupe to refresh the i30 range, Hyundai has come to a decision that the best choice would be if they made their third-gen of the compact model more attractive by adding a fastback to the lineup. The first spy shots of the 2018 Hyundai i30 Fastback have been taken, and we will have to wait for some time before the new version joins the hatchback and wagon. However, it is sure that the new variant will hit the market by early 2018, which is indicated by the company’s slideshow that was posted on Twitter a few months ago.
2018 Hyundai i30 Fastback Design
It is still early to talk about the design of the new fastback, and even though it has been caught on camera, the prototype wears some heavy covers, which makes it difficult to analyze. Furthermore, the prototype had an extra layer of camouflage to make sure that everything is masked properly. Considering that this i30 will be a fastback, it is probably going to sport a raked roofline near the rear end to make the car more handsome. What is also known is that the new Hyundai will have five doors, which means that you will be able to access the cabin using a rear hatch.
A clear difference between the fastback and hatchback or a wagon, in this case, is that the fastback’s LED daytime running lights are more angled, but that is all we know so far. Although the spy photos of the interior are not revealed, there is fat chance that the cabin of the i30 fastback will be changed compared to the other versions. But for how much we don’t know.
Hyundai i30 Fastback Engine
The engine options will also remain the same, which means that a 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder that produces 120 horsepower will power this car. Furthermore, Hyundai offers a 1.4-liter I4 that delivers 140 hp and a 1.6-liter diesel CRDi unit with the options of 95, 110 and 136 ponies. Available transmissions are a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual clutch, but which one will you get depends on an engine you choose. The 2018 Hyundai i30 Fastback will come with the front-wheel drive configuration.
2018 Hyundai i30 Fastback Release Date
Although this vehicle is scheduled for an early 2018 reveal, it is possible for it to appear in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It remains unknown whether this model will reach the US shore or not, but if it does, it will be called Elantra Fastback.
