The new Alpine sports car will be introduced at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, but since we already know what the car looks in its production form, there won’t be any surprises. Furthermore, there is enough evidence that support the report that the convertible model is going to be manufactured.
The French automotive carmaker that usually installs Renault engines into sportscars is finally going to be brought to life as they plan to expand their lineup and not only to offer the A110. Other variants that may arrive soon are the RS performance model, and a convertible, plus the officials have also mentioned the SUV.
Because of the specific production of A110 sheet metal, it is hardly likely that a top-down version will be better than Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, for instance. But why not compare it to the Porsche 718 Boxter, then? This will inevitably happen, and since there is no Japanese offer in the segment, Porsche is expected to lose some of its customers to the Alpine A110.

The reveal of the Alpine 110A is only several days away, but in spite of that, we don’t know anything about the engine that will power this machine. According to some reports, a 1.8-liter from the Clio RS that should produce between 250 and 300 horsepower will be used. However, there are speculations about the future Megane RS heart here and how it will replace the 1.8-liter unit with the ongoing 2.0-liter powerplant that could offer even more power.
Be that as it may, the production A110 should at least go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the time of the 718 Boxter S with the optional Chrono Pack. Speaking of these target times, a 1.8-liter unit will likely be ditched.
