Lately, some very worrying reports which implied that Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick gave up and quit the sequel made us worry a bit, but thankfully Ryan Reynolds put our minds at ease by going on Twitter and posting that these guys are still on board…
Apparently, Collider published a report in which says that writer Drew Goddard (wrote Daredevil, The Martian) was the person who is in charge of the work on the much-expected sequel of the infamously good Deadpool. As you probably know and could read from our posts on the topic, this movie endured several losses in the past months. Those losses reflect in the original director Mr. Tim Miller and composer Junkie XL leaving after some disputes. After this, the news that Deadpool writers Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick possibly leaving the project came as an alarming prospect, and that is all despite the Goddard having a very envious resume in TV and film.
Right after the news of this got out, our new favorite superhero Ryan Reynolds went on Twitter in order to set the record straight. According to his Tweet, both Reese and Wernick are still writing the movie.
He wrote “Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are still very much writing the screenplay. They’re the heartbeat of the whole operation.” You probably caught it, but we must point out that there is no mention of the Goddard in his tweet which is remarkable (no disrespect to the man of course). Thanks to this Collider very swiftly updated their story by stating that the Goddard was “added to the mix” only as a consultant as opposed to what they wrote before – replacing Reese and Wernick, but unfortunately they haven’t offered any more information than this.
So far, so good, everything is remaining fairly unchanged (if we neglect the leave of director Tim Miller and composer Junkie XL) and we can patiently continue to wait for the sequel of Deadpool which will probably be much more awesome and epic than the first movie was.
