Toyota announced the pricing and trims for the new Kluger model which will come with few design improvements, better engines, and new safety equipment. The starting price of the 2017 Toyota Kluger is $43,550 plus the on-road costs of $1,360.
First of all, the company’s 3.5-liter V6 petrol has been upgraded, and you will find this unit as standard across the range. Now, the engine will come with direct injection which increases the power 17 kW, and it also adds 13 Nm of torque. This means that the complete output of this powerplant will be 218 kW and 350 Nm.
The engine will be mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission which will improve fuel efficiency, plus it offers smoother shifts than the current six-speed. All AWD versions need 9.5-liters per 100km, while the GX and GXL versions with two-wheel drive claim 9.1-liters/100km fuel efficiency. There is also the 2WD Grande model that is rated at 9.3-liters per 100km.
The GX is the entry level, and it is equipped with seven airbags, rear parking sensors and rear-view camera, front fog-lights, and air-conditioning. In addition, it also sports Toyota Link app compatibility, privacy glass, cruise control, six-speaker audio system and hill-start assist.
The 2017 Toyota Kluger GXL version is in the middle, and it adds keyless entry and start, 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather-accented seats and DAB+ digital radio. Among other features, you get a bigger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, power tailgate, three-zone climate control, front seat heating and premium steering wheel and shift knob. The starting price of this trim is $53,550 plus the on-road costs of $2,360.
The range-topping Grande model comes with a 9.0-inch rear entertainment system with Blu-ray player, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision alert and heated mirrors with memory. If you decide to purchase this model, you will also get rear cross-traffic alert and lane departure alert, 360-degree camera system, automatic high beam, power moonroof, ventilated front seats and more. For the Grande, you would have to set $65,935 aside, while the on-road costs for this model are $1,860.
If you want the AWD configuration for your GX and GXL, that will cost you extra $4000, while for the Grande that addition costs $3,981.
