Ford has introduced its new 2018 Ford Expedition which is based on the ongoing F-150 pickup as these two vehicles share the same frame and the aluminum body construction. Even though there are similarities between the two models, the Expedition has its own unique style, and because of the use of aluminum, the new version will also lose some weight.

Ford Expedition will be equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine that will be mated to the 10-speed automatic gearbox, whereas we are also going to see its signature independent rear suspension.

Compared to the current model, Ford stretched the wheelbase by four inches on the new vehicle, resulting in more space in the cabin which will now offer more legroom for a maximum of eight passengers. There has been an increase in trunk area even on the longer Expedition Max, and you can really put a lot of cargo when you lower the second and third row of seats flat.

Ford wanted to make sure that you can create a double-decker load space or a wall that will stop items from either mixing or rolling over when you open a tailgate, so they added a panel to serve that purpose.

Speaking of technology, the 2018 Ford Expedition has everything the F-150 sports. Thus, in the new Expedition, you will get adaptive cruise control, parking assist, lane departure warning and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The last feature will help you in a situation when you are using a dial on the dash and rear camera to move the trailer in the desired direction by self-steering the truck.

The Wi-Fi system is admirable because more than 10 devices can be connected to it and it has a 50-foot range. Furthermore, you can pay for the optional rear-seat entertainment system that comes with Sling TV, which means that the passengers in the back will have a good time.

The ongoing version of Expedition was sold in 59,893 examples last year which is disappointing compared to the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban that reached 163,388. Hopefully, the new 2018 Ford Expedition will do better.
