Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper in the popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” received two nominations at this year’s 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, one for his role in the sitcom and the other for the movie “Hidden Figures.” Of course, this represents a great success for Parsons, but Kaley Cuoco, who also takes on one of the main roles in the series, used this as a reason to pick up a mock fight with the actor.
Namely, Parsons and the rest of Hidden Figures cast were nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award, while The Big Bang Theory crew received the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series nomination. Thus, the actor had to choose which table he would join at the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. He eventually decided that he would sit with Hidden Figures team, which apparently bothered some of his Big Bang Theory co-stars.
Parsons and Cuoco were together on the red carpet, and they were supposed to do an interview for E! News when the actress expressed her astonishment at Parsons’s choice. The actor explained in only a few words: “I was only part of that decision. Here’s what happens: you can’t sit in both.” Furthermore, he said that all Big Bang Theory actors were informed about this seating arrangement weeks before SAG Awards ceremony, so it was impossible that only Cuoco found out about it that night.
Nevertheless, the actress was persistent. She said that it would be as if she had chosen to sit at the table assigned to “Modern Family.” Since she just wouldn’t let go, Parsons decided to bring this “fight” to an end and concluded: “You broke the news! There’s in-fighting on Big Bang!”
Some might say that the actor made the right choice after all, since “Hidden Figures” eventually won the award, while the sitcom did not. In spite of that, according to Entertainment Tonight, Kaley Cuoco claims they had a great time. She said: “We didn’t win the SAG Award, but we had an amazing night. The best part is I’m home with this squad. Nothing could be better.”
When it comes to the “The Big Bang Theory” renewal, there haven’t been any official confirmations yet. But, while waiting for information about the sequel and new season, don’t forget about the series spin-off, which is still in early stage of development, but it sounds promising for the time being. What we know for now is that it will revolve around Sheldon primarily, as it will be titled “Sheldon,” but the twelve-year-old Sheldon.
