Marty Lagina and Rick Lagina are brothers who are searching for treasure in the show called The Curse of Oak Island which airs on History Channel. But besides that, who is Marty Lagina?
Marty is born in Kingsford, Michigan and he is younger than his brother Rick. It was 1977 when Marty graduated and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After that, he set off to study law, and in 1982 he got his Juris Doctorate. When he was in a law school, he was looking for a job and was working as a petroleum engineer for some of the local companies.
After the law doctorate, he established his own firm called Terra Energy Limited, which later become the biggest shale gas well operator in the state. Eventually, Marty decided to sell the company, which was bought by CMS for $58 million in 1995. Ever since the sale, Marty has become one of the major shareholders of Chartwell Properties L.L.C.
In addition, Marty Lagina is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the State Bar of Michigan. Out of the two brothers, Rick is the one more obsessed with the Oak Island mysteries, and he became interested in the treasure when he read about the legend in the issue of Reader’s Digest when he was only a kid. Marty is supportive but more skeptical which doesn’t stop him from helping Rick the best way he can.
Because of the engineering experience, he knows how to dig the ground on the island, which has helped him find some key evidence. Furthermore, Marty is really passionate about wine, and he spent millions to start Mari Vineyards where he produces one of the best red wines in the state. He is also the owner of a renewable energy company called Heritage Sustainable Energy, and this company makes wind turbines.
Marty Lagina is successful, but will all this experience help him find the treasure?
