Atlanta is known as one of the best teams on offense in the whole NFL. They will be facing the Patriots, probably a better all-around football team that has already been to the Super Bowl basically with this group of guys. Is Atlanta’s offense enough for them to overcome Tom Brady and company? Maybe. Let’s see how they rank on both sides of the ball in the regular season and Playoffs
Regular Season – Atlanta has two great running backs that led this squad to them being 5th best rushing attack out of 32 teams. Their passing attack is even better as they are ranked 3rd through the air. When it comes to total yards per game, they were 2nd, while they come as the best scoring offense since Falcons ranked 1st in points per match.
On the defensive side of the ball, they were not so great as their defense against the run was 25th, they were 28th when it comes to stopping the pass, 25th in total yards allowed and 27th in points per duel allowed. Not nearly as good as they were on the offensive side of the ball.
Playoffs – Their offense continued being one of the best that NFL has to offer as they were ranked 5th in running the ball. When it comes to passing attack, total yards per game and points per game, Atlanta Falcons are ranked number one in the postseason.
The defense, well, still not great. They are ranked dead last when it comes to defending against the run. The slightly better situation is when it comes to their pass defense as they are ranked 6th out of 12 Playoff squads, right in the middle of the road. The same can be said for this team ranking when we take a look at total yards allowed as they are also ranked 6th. Overall, they don’t give up a lot of points per game in the Postseason, and they are ranked 3rd in that department.
There is no doubt about the fact that Atlanta’s defense will need to step up in the Super Bowl in order for the Falcons to beat the New England Patriots on February 5th.
