The WWE has recently officially announced the location and date for WrestleMania 34, which will be held in 2018 as the thirty-fourth WrestleMania professional wrestling event. It will take place in New Orleans, for the second time, as it was also in town two years ago. The exact date is Sunday, April 2. But that’s not all. It has been speculated that the event will see a match between two great wrestlers, Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Paul Levesque, better known as Triple H.
A few days ago, Triple H, who is the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative of WWE, talked about the forthcoming event at the WrestleMania 34 press conference and he mentioned Johnson, referring to him as an “old friend.” He said: “To quote a good friend of mine, I always wanted to do this, [impersonates the Rock] ‘Finally! WrestleMania has come back to New Orleans!” Levesque also added: “At the WrestleMania in New Orleans, we will create memories that will last a lifetime. So the question is are you ready?”
Dwayne Johnson appeared at last year’s first WWE Raw, which was subsequently followed by rumors that there will be a match between him and Triple H at WrestleMania 32. But, that did not happen. However, we should not forget about WrestleMania 31, when The Rock and the UFC queen Ronda Rousey made the event memorable after decimating Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. We bet at least the kayfabe writers still remember this clearly.
Now, with WrestleMania 33 being just a few months away, it is once again speculated about the possibility of seeing these two wrestlers in a battle. For the time being, it seems like a highly unlikely scenario. Johnson is currently preoccupied with the upcoming movie “Baywatch,” which is based on the popular TV series of the same name. The film is set to hit theaters on May 26 this year, and the great wrestling event is scheduled for April 2, so we assume he won’t be able to make an appearance this time.
