A two-part movie adaptation for Overlord Anime is officially confirmed at the press conference, and it will be released in February and March this year. The exact release date for the movie was announced, and the new key visual for the film was released as well.
The title of the first part of the series is “Overlord: The Undead King, ” and it will hit the theaters in Japan on February 25th, 2017. The second part is titled as “Overlord: The Dark Warrior” which will debut on March 11th. If you are a fan of Overlord, you should know that the titles are taken from the original light novel which comes in two volumes.
The original character designer So-Bin drew drafts for the new characters that will appear in the movie, which will also contain new scenes. Moreover, Musical Group “MYTH&ROID” who produced the anime series theme song will take part in the creation of new theme song for these two movie parts.
The Light Novel “Overlord” was written by “Maruyama Kugane” and it was adapted in 2015 with 13 episodes aired. MyAnimeList writes about the Overlord Anime synopsis: “The final hour of the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has come. However, Momonga, a powerful wizard and master of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown decides to spend his last few moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down.”
They continue: “To his surprise, despite the clock having struck midnight, Momonga is still fully conscious as his character and, moreover, the non-player characters appear to have developed personalities of their own! Confronted with this abnormal situation, Momonga commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world with the hopes of figuring out what has caused this development and if there may be others in the same predicament.”
