According to a Taiwanese news site Digitimes, we found out that there is a possibility that the anticipated iPhone 8 could be constructed entirely out of glass, meaning that its internals will be housed in an all-glass casing with a surrounding steel frame center.
As we reported earlier, Apple was expecting its 10th anniversary of the iPhone, and it happened this Monday. The tech giant is always working on ways to make their flagship cell phone brand better and more appealing to customers, especially since Google is contesting them in every aspect possible, these include their voice assistant and Pixel phone. Google is also, as subjectively as it sounds, surpassing iPhone in many of those segments as well.
The latest rumor, since there is no official confirmation regarding this, about the iPhone 8 is that Apple manufacturers Foxconn and Jabil are developing the body of the iPhone 8 with two reinforced glass panels (one front and one back), and that info comes from the site Digitimes. To make it sturdier, those two reinforced glass panels are going to be held by a stainless steel frame.
As you know, (since you probably own one) the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S use a single piece of aluminum for the body of the phones and their back. Another reason for this decision to have the steel on the side of the phone is because (according to Digitimes) it will cost Apple 30% to 50% less, while also offering a better quality control to the company. To make the phone complete, the bezels on the side are also going to be steel, at least according to the same report.
If stainless-steel frame turns out to be true, this will remind us of company’s iPhone 4 since it was also manufactured by Foxconn and Jabil and had steel frame. Fun fact is that glass back on the phone, although more breakable than metal, transmits signal better which is very important to know since it is rumored that the iPhone 8 will have a true wireless charging capability. The full reinforced glass body also allows the company to incorporate the home button directly into the display.
