The recently played match between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors was great and pretty fun to watch. We had a tight contest that went into the overtime in which the underdog that made a comeback won the game. Clearly, it was a good game because of the Memphis Grizzlies and the fight that they were able to put up.
We enjoyed this duel, the fans enjoyed this game and Grizzlies players’ also did. Warriors players and fans? Well, not so much. This match was a perfect example of how good the Warriors can be, but it’s also an example of a problem that they have.
They are gifted on the offensive side of the ball and can score against any defense in the NBA. But, they still don’t know who their closer is. It seems that they are taking turns in the fourth quarter, not trying to execute plays at all. They are just setting picks for Curry or Durant or even Thompson and letting them play one-on-one basketball, especially when things are going bad. We saw at one point that Curry wanted to finish the play, missed an opportunity, but then gave the ball to Durant, who also missed. It was like they were taking turns, and they still don’t know who to give the ball to.
Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were also pretty angry when Durant demanded the ball and then took a pretty bad shot.
Steve Kerr needs to figure this out. This is not the first time that this has happened in the Bay Area. They are losing big games this season while poor play in the clutch has a lot to do with those losses. Somebody needs to be the closer on this team. Based on Durant’s performance on Friday night, they need to give the ball to Curry to finish off duels out for Warriors especially in those matches that are decided in final seconds.
