The 2018 Nissan Qashqai will hit the market sometime in the second part of 2018, and it is one of those models we are anxiously waiting for. The new SUV will be equipped with carmaker’s ProPILOT autonomous technology, which you will be able to add for extra $2,000.
The production of the 2018 model should start in Sunderland, UK, but because of Brexit, the production may be moved to another country such as Barcelona, Spain. The new version will come instead of the Qashqai that was launched in 2013 and it will feature an abundance of new technologies.
As AutoExpress reports, the first version of ProPilot and Traffic Jam Pilot will be installed in the 2018 model. This information comes directly from Takashi Shirakawa, the Vice President of the European Technical Center.
The new equipment will control the acceleration, steering in single lane traffic and braking and the 2018 Qashqai will be able to drive itself in congested traffic, thus minimizing the driver’s anxiousness and stress.
The ProPILOT will also have the ability to switch between lanes or even overtake other vehicles. The Japanese manufacturer plans to install this technology on other new models that will be assembled in the following four years. As Carscoops reported, the second and third version of ProPILOT will be launched in 2018 and 2024, and they will be named Highway Pilot and Intercity Pilot.
