We have only one week left until the January hits our calendars. That also means that there is just one more round left in the regular season. But, that week won’t be as important as the previous were, at least when it comes down to the AFC, and it’s Playoff picture. After the Steelers eliminated the Ravens and Chiefs got rid of the Denver Broncos, the Playoff picture is set in stone.
The New England Patriots are sitting at the top of the AFC with 13 wins and only 2 losses. They will be the number one overall seed if they win in Miami on the final Sunday of the regular season, or if Raiders, who are in the second place with 12 wins and 3 defeats, lose their last duel of the year.
Steelers have clinched the division and will be looking to hold that third seed in the AFC. Houston Texans have also clinched in Week 16 as the Bengals missed their game-winning field goal attempt. Tom Savage and his Texans are in possession of the 4th seed.
Chiefs are the first of the two wild card teams with 11 wins and 4 losses, but they can move in the second spot if the Raiders lose in Week 17 and they get the job done.
Looking at the rear in the AFC we have the Miami Dolphins that just survived the Bills in Buffalo behind Jay Ajayi’s monster day. Denver Broncos just lost to Kansas City, and that booked Miami’s ticket to the Playoffs while it also booked Denver’s early vacations as the reigning Super Bowl champions won’t get a chance to defend their title.
Playoff positioning is still not for definite in the AFC, but we know which teams will be playing for the Lombardi trophy in January.
