These two teams have met a couple of times in the postseason in the last few years with Texans winning both of those matchups. Well, these two are not as good as they were in previous seasons, but still, this is an important duel, especially for the Houston Texans.
They made a bold move on Sunday by benching their starting quarterback Brock Osweiler for a guy that hasn’t started a single game in his NFL career. His name is Tom Savage, and he will start for the first time in his career against the Bengals.
Cincinnati is out of the Playoff picture, but they are not a bad team. An injury bug has bitten them this season, and they weren’t able to overcome that. The defense wasn’t as good in the first couple of weeks as they are now, but it’s too late for them to write the wrong.
All eyes will be on Tom Savage and what he can do. Osweiler made a lot of bad throws last round. His poor decision making is what has led to his benching. Savage will need to avoid the turnovers if the Houston wants to win this match. This will be a low-scoring, tight contest in which both squads won’t hold a big lead. A lot of field goal attempts will be seen as well. It’s going to come down to who can make more big plays and get that big yardage. Dalton has Eifert and AJ Green as his weapons.
