Have you ever wonder why everybody’s favorite football star, Cristiano Ronaldo never wears single color boots, black to be precise? If you recall, the black boot was pretty much the only option back in the day, and somehow they were slowly phased out. Now it seems that every player has his personal preference of colors on his boots, but is that just a fashion thing or is there something else to it? Are they more agile and faster now thanks to the multicolored boots or is that just a coincidence? Cristiano Ronaldo thinks it’s no coincidence.
As you know, Ronaldo is one of the quickest players in the world of football, and he firmly believes that his ability to run so mind-blowingly fast across longer or shorter distances is not up to his style of boots but up to their color. As he is most definitely a fan of flashy color boots, he tends to avoid everything that is unicolor (black) and traditional.
Apparently, there is more than a good reason for it. Max Blau, the global vice-president for Nike Football Footwear, revealed recently that football superstar Cristiano believes that flashier and bright colors on his boots make him look faster than he actually is. He stated for Goal “It all starts with him. I think he’s amazing, but he’s the first to say “I can improve.” He says he can get better and will do his part, but he needs us to do ours too. That puts a lot of pressure on us. We have to come up with something to help him. That’s how we came up with the new Mercurial Superfly.”
He continued by adding that “Every player has their favorite color, and it’s been scientifically proven that the color of the boots activates chemicals in the player’s mind. When you feel better, you play better. The main reason of the color is to give confidence. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t like to wear black boots because he says black looks slow and he wants to feel fast”.
Well isn’t this incredible?! Who would believe that they actually managed to scientifically prove that flashier colors on your feet make you faster? Maybe we should all try this as a science experiment?! I know I am going to find the most flashier pair of sneakers and try to break some speed records. If I manage to do that, you will hear from me again!
