There is no doubt about the fact that Carmelo Anthony has been one of the elite scorers in the past decade. He is a great talent and a great basketball player with a pretty good career behind him. But, he still hasn’t won the title, and it seems that he is not going to do it in New York.
Melo is not the best player on a championship team. That is now clear to everybody. It’s unlikely that he will be able to attract big enough stars to come and play for the Knicks so this squad can win the ring. If he wants to do it, he needs to search somewhere else.
Two teams that are a great destination for Melo are the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers. Cavs are a no brainer as they could always use another star so they can get into the real fight with the Warriors in the possible NBA Finals matchup.
Clippers are also one of the elite squads in the West that have just never been able to find that small forward who can put this team over the edge. If Melo becomes available, the Clippers should make a big push for this man. He is exactly what they need, and Anthony just might be the one that puts the Clippers in the driver’s seat in the West.
Wherever he goes, one thing is clear. Anthony is not winning the title in New York. Both sides need to move on.
