A question. Do you remember the time when the original SVT Raptor hit the showroom floors all across the US back in 2009? Then you must know that back then you had two options when engine lineup is considered – a 5.4 L V8 or the most hardcore version the 6.2 L option. Oh yeah, the first gen of Raptor had more than awesome run back then, and if you remember Ford decided to make the 6.2 L V8 that pushed 411 HP standard across the lineup of Raptors. To anyone who asks, we will all without hesitation say that it was a great truck back then and, as far we are considered, it still is even by today’s standards.
But lately there has been a lot of fuzz in Ford headquarters, and we managed to find out what is happening exactly. Apparently, Ford is preparing an all new second gen F-150 Raptor for 2017. The company may have ditched the SVT badge but they haven’t lost the tendency of power increase with every model released.
As you will see on the video we have prepared for you, the folks at Hennessey Performance even strapped a brand-new 2017 Raptor crew cab onto their in-house Dynojet dyno to measure just how powerful it is. And without any doubt, er have received some impressive figures from the Lightning Blue as it EcoBoost-powered truck gave 365,1 HP and 422,4 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
These numbers are un-doubtfully impressive for any full-size truck out there and they by far transcend those from the first gen Raptors as well. The previous gen versions were able to produce respective 331 HP and 344,3 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. But there is one thing that is interested about the all new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor and its almost equally new 10 speed transmission. The interesting thing, pointed out by John, was the fact that the dyno pull from the video was made in fifth gear since a one-to-one gear is somewhat difficult to find on these new transmissions. Well isn’t that amazing?! This only means one thing and showing us that this truck will have more than plenty of grunt left in it, and with a tinker or two on it, we can only imagine the new Raptor might just reach 500 lb-ft of torque or even more. Knowing how stuff is done by the folks at Hennessey Performance you could pretty much take that to the bank.
